RIP leapster December 2009-January 2010

Emma got a leapster for Christmas. It has been so nice, I can have her play it while I need to have my attention other places (making dinner, feeding the baby) and she has really been learning a lot with it. Finally getting those colors down.

Well the other day I was talking to my sister on the phone while Emma was eating lunch. She tells me she is finshed and going to play with her leapster, which I tell her would be fine. Then I hear some running water. I go back to see what she is doing and she had it under the running water. I scream and yank it away from her and she starts to cry. I dry it all off while Emma is crying more and more. So I jump off the phone and explained to her what had happened. She tells me that it was dirty from the Cheetos and she was just cleaning it, clearly unaware of what the problem is. My heart just sank. At no point did we explain to her that wasn't ok to do. She had no idea what she had just done had ruined her new toy.

I felt just as sad for her all day. When we were driving to an appointment later she told me that she had seen a frowny face. I asked her where and she told me that it was on her face because she ruined her leapster. And then asked me what she needed to do it make it a happy face. oh, Emma! What a heartache Last Thursday was. Leapster may you rest in peace.
