Well it takes two words to explain.... KOURTNEY'S WEDDING! We are now down to less than one month. The blessed day is on January 3, 2009! For some reason I get (got stuck with!!!) making the wedding list and labels for all of the invites! YUCK I feel like I have spent days sitting here on my computer. But I can finally say that expect for the last minute one and address I have to track down they are all addressed and stuffed! YEAH for me. And in case you didn't believe me here is some pictures to prove it! :
Now on to my next task... the bridal shower. I got all the invites in the mail but if I forgot you and you want to come it is on Saturday at my house at 1:00! Come and have we will have a good time. I forgot how stressful a wedding is to plan. Kourtney doesn't care about most of the fine details which leaves me and my mom having to make decisions and do it (not fun) We are in charge of the reception food and decorations. We are almost done but need help with a backdrop! Anyone have any ideas? They are doing a movie themed reception so something we could use to decorate maybe with movie poster or something! Any ideas would help so much. We have some pretty great things up our selves so all of you that can come you will be in for a treat!
The other thing that has kicked my butt last week was a double shot of church stuff which I was involved in. On Tuesday we had our enrichment which was all focused on Christ. It was so wonderful and the spirit was so strong. We had 4 rooms set up that depicted a time in Christ's life. The first room was his birth and they read the scripture and had a musical number and then everyone went to our room. We were in charge of a miracle. We chose the story of the women that was sick and touched Christ's robe and was healed. I LOVE that story because it shows not only our saviors ability to heal us but our part as well. The women had the faith that she would be healed through him. I wish that I had that faith at all times in my life. The next room was the parable of the ten virgins and the last room was the atonement and Resurrection.
I love that I came away from it with more insight of Christ's life at a time when we are suppose to be celebrating him. I encourage all of you looking for the same experience to look up these scriptures and reflect upon what Christ's life means to you:
Then on Wednesday we had our Young women's in excellent. For Camp this year I found the most amazing book called The Parable of the Princesses by Jenny Philips. This book will make you cry each time you read it. For every women and daughter out there you need to buy this book and read it often. I cant even describe to you this book without getting tirey eyed. It will make the best gift especially for a daughter to read to her for a goodnight story! Here is the link to desert book!
And to finish off my novel tonight I want to share an general conference talk that has really touched my heart! It was given in the last conference by President Dieter Uchtdorf... who I might add has fastly become a FAVORITE of mine. Everything that I have read from him as of late was everything I needed to hear! The talk is called the infinite power of hope. I had never thought of hope as something that is important to my faith. Sure I hope for many a things, but I never really thought that when I am dealing with a tough time and my faith is to weak to see me through it, it is the hope that gets me thought it. I don't know why I had never thought about this! He says that " hope is one led of a three legged stool, together with faith and charity. These three stabilize our lives regardless of the rough or uneven surfaces we might encounter at the time" I know that lately I have felt that. I want that faith of the women that touched Christ robe, but at times I fall short, But I know that I have the hope to get me though those times until my faith renews! He also adds " The things we hope in sustains us during our daily work. They uphold us through trials, temptation, and sorrow. Everyone has experienced discouragements and difficulty. Indeed there are times when the darkness may seem unbearable. It is in these times that the divine principle of the restored gospel we hope in can uphold us and carry us until, once again, we walk in the light." What power in that statement. We are never alone even when we are shaken to our core... our hope in Jesus and the plan of salvation gives us the hope to make it until our faith returns. I love the way he started the talk by saying "While that is impossible, perhaps today I could sit by your side and by the side of any who might feel discouraged, worried, or lonely. " and the the ending was just as moving " And to all who suffer-to all who feel discouraged, worried or lonely- I say with love and deep concern fro you, never given in! Never surrender. Never allow despair to over come your spirit! For some reason I felt inspired to share with you something that has impacted my life the past couple of days! I encourage everyone to read the entire article. What loving Prophets we have would sit with us during trying times so that we don't give up! I know I wont!
Here is to another wonderful spiritual feed and service giving week! :)
